A couple weeks ago, some friends and relatives stopped by to
pay our family a visit – as well as have some fun in LA. Oh yes, the LA-feels
are so real! We stopped by Pacsun during our shopping trip, and luckily they were having a huge sale.
Searched the store and my eyes fell on “The Fedora Hat.” Yes the fedora hat. Though it was more on
the pricey side, the questions and compliments I get every time I wear it makes
up for the price, right?

Upon entering the store, I immediately shot to the merch aisle, looking for those pop up stickers that had just come in. Found them, grabbed 4 packs - VIXX, two B1A4's (another one for my friend), and BTS. With that done, it's album shopping time. I came in there intending to leave with 1-2 albums, but instead I left with 5. And here's my logic. How often do I get to go to downtown? At most twice a year. So with that said, it only makes sense to get what I need before leaving. That way I'll return home with no regrets. That is my logic.

Being a devout Bana, it is quite surprising to know that I didn't have their very first album until now. But girl here is very close to having their entire collection. Just missing 3 more. I'll make it. No worries. As for VIXX's newest album ~ I can't tell you how loud I shrieked when I discovered I got N's photocards. My god, good thing I switched the album. Wait, let's rewind. I was there looking for the Boys' Record Album. Didn't take me long to find it. But much to my dismay it was a little bent at the edges and because of that I attempted to look for a newer one. Found a whole stack below that shelves and quickly did an exchange. And thank goodness I did... Hehe, I'd say this is definitely a good start to my summer. Really looking forward to what happens the next two months.
Officialy Turning 1

Theconbonz has officially turned 1! I still remember when I
first started this blog, I started out of pure passion and excitement in
creating something that will allow me to get in touch with family and friends.
But like most bloggers I, too, went through many phases. I may have only
blogged for a short 12 months, but I can tell you that I’ve been through the
“only numbers” phase, the beauty blogger phase, the music blogger phase, the
“nonsense blogger” phase, the design changing phase, as well as the “annoying
promoter” phase. I can’t say that I’ve completely cleansed myself of all these
past identities, but I can say that I’ve at least managed to discover the true
blogger I want to become.
I’ve returned to my roots. This blog will only be about me,
my life, my obsessions. Anything I find worth sharing will be shared. No more
nonsense, irrelevant posts that don’t match my blogging intentions. But I
guess, writing irrelevant posts isn’t all
bad. We can see it as one of the things that help us all grow. It was a
stepping stone. It was these irrelevant posts that allowed me to become who I
am today, one year later from the birth of theconbonz. But there’s definitely
more to this.
During this short time I’ve researched a lot, read a lot,
thought a lot, and met a lot. What do I mean? Well, I’ve mentioned this many
times before, but I truly think that in order to improve you have to expose
yourself. You can’t sit there in bed waiting for some awesome opportunity to
hit you. If you want to be that blogger,
you got to find your way there first. There were many sleepless nights just
trying to discover the “real” way to blog. I can’t possibly enumerate how many
minutes I’ve spent on this. But after all that researching and reading, I
thought. I pieced together each idea to create what has become of me today. Not
perfect, but getting there. As for “met a lot.” I’ve definitely “met a lot” of
inspirational bloggers. Just on the top of my head – Michelle, Winnie, Stephanie,
and Joana. I really have to give them my biggest thanks. Huge hugs and kisses!!
And to end this bit of a lengthy post, I shall say that
after reading Joana’s list for 101 things in 1001 days, I’ve decided to start a
list myself. It’ll be lots of fun, so please join me in on it. I’ll be talking
more about this series I’m starting in the next post. Until then, thank you for
sticking with me during this past year.

Noteworthy | Bringing My Baby Home

No, not that baby. But this, the Jungkook baby. If you know me well, then you'd know that I'm an ARMY. No doubt about that. Ever since Big Hit began selling these BTS figurines, I knew that I had to bring one home. I may not have a boyfriend, but having this cutie will make everything better. (Aha, I sound desperate....) Gosh, I don't even know where to start with Kookie. This fangirl fever of mine is really not letting me think straight. How about let's settle with this? Jungkook, this beautiful golden maknae, can really bring a smile to my face. Looking at this figurine makes me think of him and easily brightens my day. Okay, I'm starting to sound weird. I'll stop.
Noteworthy | Color Inspiration

Spring is probably my favorite seasons of all, but unfortunately I can't really "experience" a proper spring here in Los Angeles. In fact, the weather here has been really weird lately. Typically by May, I'd be sweating bullets by 10 in the morning. But now? I have to wear a nice thick parka to school just to make sure I don't accidentally shiver so much I end up distracting the class. That was a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point.
And just to spark up the spring spirit, I gathered several pictures from Pinterest and created a mini mood board. Every time I look at this, I just feel so fresh and crisp - if that make sense. It'd be really nice to sit on a nice white bench surrounded by beautiful blossoms, a nice cool breeze. Ah... at least to me that sounds so much better than being stuck in a room for nearly 6 hours studying and doing homework.
Honestly, these colors are actually what I'm basing by new blog design on. I've played around with the colors and ended up with choosing 2 in the end. I tried to carry that spring image with me as I put together this new layout. I've finished the draft design and am hoping that sometime next week I can revise it a bit and start with the coding by the middle of June. I really can't wait to show you guys my new design. As someone who isn't that artsy, creating a design from scratch was definitely not easy. But I'm not complaining. It was lots of fun - haha and the fun has just begun!!
Anyone have any color inspirations lately? I'd love to know!
Standing Egg

It's officially been four years since I entered into the K-pop fandoms. And as time gradually passed, I realized that I became more and more exposed to not only the different aspects of the Korean culture and language but also the different genres of music. For some odd reason, when I first started listening to Korean music, I honestly thought that there was only K-pop. Nothing else. But of course I soon realized I was wrong.
Lately, I've been really into music that has a nice guitar melody. Just something nice, calm, and cafe-like - music that I'd gladly sip a cup of tea and read a book to. I've discovered some songs like that by several mainstream bands and groups, but not too much at all. Until recently. Really like the day before Mother's Day. I was always aware of K-indie but never really bothered to dig deeper down to discover more of this absolutely beautiful genre. Did some research and came upon a group called "Standing Egg." First song I feel in love with? 햇살이 아파. Took a couple more looks around and I knew I needed to listen to every song they have.
Standing Egg is a Korean Indie band that debuted in 2010. Consisting of only three members, who go by the names of Egg 1, Egg 2, and Egg 3, Standing Egg claims that they want to fill their songs with emotion, something they find to be lacking in a world filled with electronic sounds and flashy advertising. This is really a different take on music; I feel really touched to find people who aren't just about the fame and the money. Nice pure music. Music Standing Egg has been working hard to produce. I've included some of my most loved songs from them, but this short list will do them no justice at all. Regardless, enjoy~

Noteworthy | Spring Beauty Favorites

This is probably the third time I mentioned the word 'cushion' here on my blog, but seriously guys, nothing beats a good light cushion. I don't really like wearing full coverage makeup because 1) it clogs up my pores 2) it's too heavy for everyday use 3) it's too much of a hassle. A cushion on the other hand makes it extremely fast and easy for me to even out my skin tone and cover some of my scars and undereye bags. Always makes me look like I have perfect bling bling skin each time I use it. Besides, it lasts me the whole day, controls my oily skin, and has SPF 50 PA+++.

I was watching Juniel's Sweetem episode with InsiteTV the other day and saw her recommending the Sympathy for the Skin lotion from Lush. And I knew I had to get it. I mean, come on, who doesn't want to smell like this talented and beautiful girl? I know I do... Besides, this was said to be the "Juniel scent" and being the little curious girl I am, I took home a jar (or is tub? bottle?) with me.
This lotion is just awesomeness in a bottle. It leaves my skin feeling refreshed and moisturized. Though it does leave a bit of a shiny layer on my skin, it does not feel sticky or heavy at all. And seriously, it smells like bananas and cream. But better. It's a bit difficult to explain, so if you ever get a chance hop on into a Lush store and give this baby a try.
The Formulae Known As lotion is actually a little gift for my friend. (I miss you lots Justina!! Hope you like this little gift from me!) Now the description says, "A creamy, chocolatey lotion with organic cocoa butter and floral essential oils for soft, smooth skin." And from what I tried in the store, this sure is true! It smells absolutely like chocolate when you first put it on, but after a while that fades off into a soft but feminine floral scent. Just lovely!
There's just so many cool products to try out at Lush... Next time, I'm going to give the Big shampoo a try. A lot of people have been raving about it, so it's time to see what's so good about it. Anyone got any suggestions for moi?
Obsessed With K-Beauty

I've been obsessed with Korean beauty products for the longest time ever and I don't think it'll die down anytime soon. Since their products tend to be more targeted toward the Asian market, I find that their makeup and skincare products tend to fit my skin better than other Western brands.
I've mentioned cushions before, and I won't fail to mention them again. When I talked about them in my Winter Pouch post, I was using the Innisfree Ampoule Intense Cushion, which was perfect for the dry cold winters. But now that summer is coming up, it just felt better to stick with a matte cushion that has a nice oil control formula. I would say it has more of a light to medium coverage, but this is completely normal for cushions so no biggie really.
Being a lip junkie, it's hard not to pick up a couple of new lip products for the spring and summer. This time, I've managed to drop my coral/peach to bring home two vibrant lipsticks - Laneige's Intense Serum Lipstick in and Innisfree's Color Glow Lipstick in . Both are extremely moisturizing; I haven't experienced any drying or chapping as of yet. The colors have quite a nice lasting ability and do in fact leave a really beautiful tint on the lips even after eating (though not as vibrant).
I've really been itching to get my hands on a nice black gel eyeliner and an uber natural pink eyeshadow. And I've found them. The eyeliner, is really pigmented and a little really goes a long long way. The tube is really big considering how much I tend to use each makeup session. It'll probably last me two years or something... As for the eyeshadow, I have to be honest, it wasn't as pigmented as I hoped it would be. However, it does become a bit more pink when used wet. Regardless of its pigmentation, the pink brightens up the eye quite a bit, the shimmers especially make the eye look extra girly and twinkly.
As for the final products, I picked up some face mist, which were on a 1+1 sale at Aritaum, and a blusher brush. Oh gosh.... I can't even begin to describe how soft this brush is. Every time I touch it, I feel like I'm stroking my lovely teddy bear. If I could get several hundred thousand more and assemble them into a little ball, I could hug that thing all day.... Okay weird thoughts.
But back on track. By now you've probably noticed that practically all my recent purchases are from Innisfree. And that says something about me: yes I'm a devout lover of the brand and find the quality in their products as well as their packaging attractive points. Don't mind me; I like love Innisfree. Go go K-beauty!

March is slowly coming to a close and so much has been happening lately. During my "spring break" I managed to get a majority of my assigned work done before my classmates and I headed up north to Sacramento for a little competition. I really learned a lot and grew so much as a person in just my 4 days stay there. But I'll talk more about my trip in a later post.
I haven't been on my blog for six days, and it seriously feels like I've been gone for ages. So as a celebratory post for my return to this wonderful space and the beginning of a new and hopefully productive month, I shall share some tunes that have really been rocking my playlist! (And this week there's actually an American song in here... quite a surprise, right?)

Pretty Pastel Pieces

Spring isn't around the corner anymore!! It's officially here! Even though I'm a summer baby, I have to admit that spring is probably my favorite season... well that's a bit debatable considering winter is a close second. Nonetheless, how can spring be spring without pastel colors bursting everywhere?
This pretty girly bracelet with hints of vintage and pastel is just too cute! Though it costed me a painstaking amount, considering its design I guess its rather worth it. If you remember from my Taiwan & Hong Kong Haul post, I briefly mentioned purchasing this bracelet but never said too much about it. I'm not going to do a full on review, but I do have to say that this bracelet just gives me the spring vibes. It's definitely the girliest piece of accessory I own...but how can I resist wearing it? I feel so pretty once I put it on. Kind of like this: slap this on and immediate Sailor Moon transformation!
Not long ago, I hopped over to Target and found some wonderful items in the dollar section. And man was that section filled with watercolors and pastels. Yes, even Target is playing along. So I grabbed a few things - 5 buckets and a packet of pens and mechanical pencils.
Current Workout Routine

Just as a friendly reminder, I'd like to say that I am no certified trainer of any sort in any way. I just thought it would be nice to share what kind of exercises I've been rocking lately.
Typically right after I get off from school, I eat a bowl of Special K cereal and then go off for a 30 to 45 minute run. On days when I don't really feel the running spirit, I take out my phone and go through some Blogilates videos. My current favorites are (1) 5 Minute Fat Burner (2) Fat Destroyer (3) Fun Indoor Cardio Workout (4) Fat Burning Dance Workout to "Bodypop" (5) Lower Belly Flattener.
As you can see, 4/5 of them are all cardio based while only 1 works out my abs. That's why right before bed, I like to go through a small marathon of ab workouts, which consist of 2 reps of 25 of (1) Crunches (2) Hip Raises (3) Leg Raises and finally a 60 second plank.
Really all this exercise only takes away one hour out my whole day, and personally I think it is worth it. Exercising helps me fall asleep more easily; gives my skin that glow; and makes me feel lighter and tighter (if that makes any sense). Frankly, I enjoy running and doing ab workouts simply because I feel happy and satisfied each and every time. Hopefully, dear reader, you have found this helpful or interesting in some way. For some reason, I've found myself enjoying instrumentals quite a lot lately. When a new song comes out, I'll bob my head to it and then see if I could find the instrumental version. And if I do, I find myself putting it in a playlist and blasting it through the speakers every now and then... well more like every single day.

This past Christmas, I decided to go on a little splurge... and so I bought this cheek palette from Nars. Yes, the Virtual Domination Cheek Palette. It was a bit more on the expensive side, but considering the amount of product and the color pay off, I think it quite worth it. The palette is made up of 3 blushes (Deep Thorat, Sex Fantasy, and Final Cut), 1 highlighting color (Miss Liberty), and 1 bronzer (Laguna).

Tuesday Tunes: Getting Ready for Bedtime

Music is something that can really turn a poopy day into a nice one. After a long night of homework, I really enjoy turning up the volume while I get ready for bed
time. And so today, I'd like to share several songs that has been on my playlist. Most all of the songs are on the calm and quiet side - exactly what I need to get myself feeling sleepy and dreamy.

Enjoying Tea A Bit Too Much Lately

Around sometime last year, I became an official tea lover. Green tea. Especially green tea. I started drinking tea just for slimming down, but I have to say it has seriously become one of those things I can't really seem to live without. Just this past Christmas, we were having some last minute Christmas shopping and can I say how lucky I was to stumble upon this beautiful cup with such an aesthetically pleasing design? I'm not sure about other people, but drinking out of a pretty cup makes me want to drink more. Haha... anyone else feel me?
